The re-classification of the Manchester LLR to the “North West Transit Corridor” means we are making some changes to Kenyon Hall operations in order to prevent inadvertent infringements, please refer to Air Safety Document below.

Approach to Kenyon Hall Airfield

Kenyon Hall Airfield (KHA) is in the North West Transit Corridor which is in class ‘G’ airspace.  You advised to be in contact with Manchester ATC or on a listening watch, squawking 7366  (if transponder equipped).  You MUST BE BELOW 1500 feet on the Manchester QNH.

When you are within 2 miles of the airfield, please make a blind-call on Safetycom 135.480 Kenyon Hall Traffic.

We recommend you overfly the airfield at 800 feet to check the windsock, check for model aircraft and any farming or grass cutting activities.

Once you establish your chosen runway, call downwind and turn and fly base leg at about 3/4 mile away from the runway.

Try to make a straight in approach.

Runways 23 or 05 should be used when possible but our cross runways 28 and 10 may be used if necessary.

When established on Final approach, make a blind call on Safetycom,  announcing your status but continue to squawk 7366 (if transponder equipped) at all times.

Departure from Kenyon Hall Airfield

Whilst on the ground make the appropriate blind call to Kenyon Hall Traffic on Safetycom 135.480.  You advised to be in contact with Manchester ATC or on a listening watch, squawking 7366  (if transponder equipped).

As soon as possible once airborne (and definitely within two Nm), change to the Manchester Radar frequency of 118.580 for listening watch whilst within the NWTC.

Caution:

Curl over from trees with northerly winds and crops which are grown up to runway edges.

Avoid overflying the nearby village to the North of the strip and Kenyon Hall Farm microlight strip to the south, plus any shaded areas on the diagram below.

On departure from 23 climb straight ahead until over the motorway before turning on track.

Please keep a very good lookout for aircraft.
