The Lancashire Aero Club is the oldest established flying club in the country, and was until recently based at the site of Manchester’s original municipal airport.
In 1922 John F. Leeming began constructing a glider in the garage next to his home with the help of a group of friends who subsequently formed The Lancashire Aero Club.
The Landing Card Scheme has been revised, now granting unlimited landings for non-commercial flights at participating airfields throughout the membership year.
This update provides greater flexibility for members, allowing more opportunities to explore different airfields. Full details, including any restrictions, can be found on the link below.
The Lancashire Aero Club has partnered with the City Airport Manchester and a number of local sponsors to create a much needed pilots lounge.
This is in the base of the iconic Control Tower and is open to ALL Barton based pilots.
It will be open whilst the airfield is operational and has a key coded entry lock – details from ATC
The lounge is a quiet area where pilots can do their flight planning in comfort.
There is also coffee/tea making facilities and proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the facility.
